Pennsylvania Christmas Birds

This motif, like others in the series, is taken from a Pennsylvania German show towel in Theresa's collection. These unusual samplers, meant for kitchens, often features a variety of stitches in panels, and the entire piece was often hung as a door divider. The original stitcher was Elisabeth Eberhard, and she made her show towel in 1839.
