Equal and Free

Equal and Free was inspired by a quote from Rosa Parks who in 1955, courageously refused to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery, Alabama bus. In 1995, Rosa said in an interview by the Academy of Achievement, “As I look back on those days, it’s just like a dream. The only thing that bothered me was that we waited so long to make this protest and to let it be know wherever we go that all of us should be free and equal and have all opportunities that others should have.” Stitched on 18ct Sandstone Aida by Grace Notes fabric using DMC floss.
